What is a Biomass Briquette

ireland.jpgWhat are GreenFlame Biomass Briquettes?

Biomass is a renewable energy source. Greenflame Biomass Briquettes are made from an energy crop called Miscanthus, also known as Elephant Grass (learn more)

Where do I come from?

I am grown by farmers in the South East of Ireland. Miscanthus is perennial and can last over 20 years. I am green and leafy during the growing season but my leaves die off with the first frost and I become brown - you could mistake me for bamboo. I grow to between 3 and 4 metres each year before I am harvested into bales to make GreenFlame Briquettes.

How are GreenFlame Briquettes made?

The bale of miscanthus is shredded and put through a briquetting press making it compact and dense. There are no additives or toxins.

Why should I use GreenFlame Briquettes for my Fireplace or Solid Fuel Appliance?
