GreenFlame Biomass Briquettes are 100% Irish carbon neutral fuel made from Miscanthus (Elephant Grass) an energy crop grown by farmers in the South East of Ireland and recycled timber. They offer a real alternative to peat briquettes as they not only have the same net calorific value but they are low in ash and moisture content, they are suitable in both open fireplaces and stoves, they are smokeless and each log burns for around an hour in an open fireplace (times vary depending on draft in a stove or solid fuel appliance).

Miscanthus is renewable - it is only sown once and a crop can be taken off it annually after year 2, for 20 years or more it is therefore both renewable and sustainable and not contributing to greenhouse gases caused on imported fuels.
